Love this CD--fantastic talented artist! I,ve listened to Bob Dylan off and on for years, it's just recently that I've really 'gotten in to him', and now it,s now one of my favorite CD's. I think it takes a little more 'maturity' to appreciate it. This my 3rd set of Bob Dylan cd's, and I have to say my favorite. I grew up in the sixty's so I was very young, and I took his music for granted.
Now I absolutely love his insight, his intellegence, sence of humor. He is a very gifted artist, I wish I would have noticed years ago. This is a very excellant CD. I highly recommend it.
History being made No Direction Home is a bunch of fun for Dylan collectors, revealing how he worked his songs into a final product. Many of the cuts are uninspired in their early development, but they are there for the sake of history, not your typical music to get lost in. The live cuts are difficult in places, exactly like so many of his shows. But that's the price you pay for many other brilliant musical moments. If you want polished music, buy the original LP's.
But if you want to hear genius in action, this is a great place to get it. Classic Dylan Live Recordings This is a great compilation of live recordings - classic Dylan songs. He was never known for a crystal clear, gorgeous voice, so don't expect it - it sounds like Dylan, so think great music and torturous vocals. But it's classic Dylan- the lyrics are incredible. For the true Dylan fan, these are great live recordings.
