Kabir, the dictionaries I have on disc and in paper and the online dictionaries accessible via Yandex don’t have nardy. I’m glad a few are getting them. (I wouldn’t call the Ozhegov “for schoolchildren.”) The Big Academic Dictionary was stopped years and years ago, and thank heavens it’s finally getting going again. But since the early 90s, most of the big dictionaries have been reprinted — in glossy fancy covers — without being truly updated. The situation with R>E, E>R paper dictionaires is worse. In 2004 Yermolovich FINALLY updated the old Smirtnitsky R>E dictionary, which had only been slightly updated in the 1970s. It was filled with words for horses and carts and other delights of the 19th century.

You will not only get your purchases, you will get my blessings and a karmic boost! If your comment goes into moderation (which can happen if it has too many links or if the software just takes it into its head to be suspicious), I will usually set it free reasonably quickly.

You have my apologies in advance. Also, my posts should be taken as conversation-starters; there is no expectation of 'staying on topic,' and some of the best threads have gone in entirely unexpected directions. I have strong opinions and sometimes express myself more sharply than an ideal interlocutor might, but I try to avoid personal attacks, and I hope you will do the same. † † (Russian) Linguablogs: (an Aussie equivalent of Language Log) (in English) ( The Economist's language blog) (a blog from the Australian National Dictionary Centre) ('A blog devoted to all matters Indo-European') ('a sweary blog about swearing') Language resources: (IPA keyboards, language character sets).
