Hey all, I just purchased a Lenovo Y470p, and am loving it minus the torrent of bloatware preloaded onto the system. I am generally well versed with how to do fresh installs to avoid that issue, however the laptop didn't come with recovery discs or a windows OEM disc and I have a couple of questions: 1. If the laptop is loaded with Win 7 home premium OA, and the product key for the installation is typed on the bottom of the computer, can I use that SAME key with a seperate disc copy of Win 7 home premium so as to avoid all that bloatware?
Fresh Windows 7 installation over an OA installation. The laptop have been modified by Lenovo, and I'd prefer to have everything come straight from Intel, AMD, etc. New activate microsoft windows 7 pro oa sea key sticker for lenovo lenovo thinkpad p70 picture 1 regular lenovo thinkpad t430s 14 hd intel core i7 2 9ghz 3 6ghz note laptop lenovo thinkpad t420 office windows 7 pro lenovo.
If that works, will the partition on which the squeaky clean OS is installed conflict with the Lenovo OneTouchRecovery partition? --> this is essentailly the partition that includes recovery files in order to restore the entire cmputer to factory defaults. Probably won't use it, but it's nice to have and I don't want to mess with it. Thanks guys, JR. Cara membuka situs yang diblokir tanpa software development.
Hey guys, thanks for all the quick replies! I would typically just uninstall all of the bloatware manually, however I still would like to do a fresh OS install - most of the drivers for the laptop have been modified by Lenovo, and I'd prefer to have everything come straight from Intel, AMD, etc, without having to overwrite old drivers as I've read complaints of system instability when people do that with this system. It's not a huge hassle as I've done it many times before, however I still don't know if I can use the Win 7 OA key on the bottom of the laptop to activate a disc copy of Win7 acquired elsewhere. Yes it will work. It will unlock only the version that the laptop came with. Hey all, sorry this has taken so long to respond to (completely forgot).
Before a mod closes the thread for being necro'ed, I'd like to give a bit of a summary for anybody who might find this useful: 1. The OEM on the bottom of the laptop certainly DID work 2. I did get a 'wrong key, please activate windows by phone, etc' message after a few days, but this is simply because I mistyped my key. After typing it in correctly, the laptop has been working fine for over a month now with no problems, so try this first if you get the same error. As Brett above has said, if you want to do this make sure you have factory discs made so that you can revert if you need, and also make sure that the necessary drivers are available to you over the net. Thanks to everybody who replied and helped!
